2020 Tryouts

2020 VHSC Tryout Information

VHSC holds tryouts every year to select players for travel teams based on the player's age and ability. This year our process is a bit different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, our club is offering two ways to try out: in-person or virtually.

In-Person Tryout

Step 1: REGISTER TO TRYOUT HERE

Step 2: Our club's Director of Coaching, Oktay Akgun, will contact you to schedule your child's evaluation.
Step 3: Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled tryout time. Players should bring a soccer ball, a bottle of water and wear soccer cleats, shinguards and comfortable athletic clothing.

LocationVernon Hills Athletic Complex Field #12

COVID 19 Safety Protocol: We are currently following Phase 4 youth sports guidelines from the Illinois Department of Health and Illinois Youth Soccer Association to keep players, parents, and coaches safe:

  • Parents need to complete a COVD-19 waiver before attending any sessions.
  • Players and parents should wear masks or face coverings from their car to the field and back. Players do not need to wear a mask while practicing/playing.
  • Coaches will wear a mask at all times if they are closer than 10 feet from any players.
  • Groups are limited to a maximum of 50 players.
  • Players can participate in regular practices and games.
  • Equipment is sanitized between sessions.

Virtual Tryout Option

We understand that some players and parents may not yet feel comfortable with an in-person evaluation. That is why we are also offering the option to get evaluated virtually.

Step 1: Click here to register your child to try out. Be sure to check the option for Virtual Tryout.
Step 2: Our club's Director of Coaching, Oktay Akgun, will contact you to schedule your child's evaluation.
Step 3: You will receive an email with instructions on how to join the virtual evaluation, what to wear/bring, and a video tutorial on what to expect during the session.
Step 4: Virtual evaluation. Player will perform a series of skills under the instruction of a coach. The evaluation will be attended by the club's Director of Coaching and another staff coach. Please note that a parent must be present at all times during the session.
Step 5: You will be contacted within 24-48 hours after the evaluation with your child's team placement.
