VERNON HILLS (March 19, 2018) – The Boards of the Vernon Hills Soccer Club (VHSC) and Lake Forest Soccer Association (LFSA) have decided to continue their partnership and combine all teams at the older age groups (U13 and above).  The club at the older ages will be referred to as 60 United.

Oktay Akgun will serve as the Director of Coaching of 60 United .  Oktay holds a USSF A license and USSF National Youth license, earned the Illinois Girls’ Coach of the Year (IYSA) honor and is a U.S. Soccer scout for talent identification.  He will continue to oversee the coaches and curriculum of the VHSC as well as LFSA.

Both clubs will continue to function as separate entities at U12 and below. The value of the combined club will lie in 1) the ability for the clubs to combine teams at ages where there are a smaller number of players, and 2) the ability to create stronger teams at the older ages by combining the top players from each age group from each club.

 “We found a lot of success with combining three teams and working together with LFSA last year,” said Peter Kempf, VHSC Director of Travel. “It just made sense to combine the older ages and create an environment that gives players the most opportunities to succeed.”

The VHSC will hold an Information Night on 4/17, 7:30PM, and the Sullivan Center for those that want to hear more about the exciting changes.  We encourage all interested to attend.

Boys Birth Year 2009: May 23 and 24 5:30PM-7:00PM

Boys Birth Year 2007-2008: May 23 and 24 7:00PM-8:30PM

Girls Birth Year 2010-2012: May 23 and 24 4:00PM-5:30PM

Girls Birth Year 2008-2009: May 23 and 24 5:30PM-7:00PM

Girls Birth Year 2004-2006 (non HS): May 19, 6:00-7:30PM at Vernon Hills HS Stadium AND May 20, 5:00-6:30PM at LFHS West Campus in Lake Forest

Boys Birth Year 2004-2006 (non HS): May 19, 7:30-9:00PM at Vernon Hills HS Stadium AND May 20, 6:30-8:00PM at LFHS West Campus in Lake Forest
